Birth Doula FAQs:

  • A birth doula is a trained support person who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing person before, during, and just after labor. I don’t replace a partner or medical team—I work alongside them to ensure the birthing person feels empowered, informed, and cared for throughout the process. My role includes helping with comfort measures like breathing techniques, movement, and hands-on support, as well as offering reassurance and advocacy so my clients feel confident in their choices. Birth is an incredibly transformative experience, and my goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where families feel safe and respected.

  • Working with a birth doula can make a huge difference in the overall birth experience, both physically and emotionally. Having continuous support from a trained professional has been shown to reduce the likelihood of medical interventions, including C-sections, and can lead to shorter labors and better birth outcomes. A study published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews found that people who had continuous labor support, including from doulas, were more likely to have spontaneous vaginal births and less likely to use pain medications or report dissatisfaction with their birth experience. Another study in the Journal of Perinatal Education highlighted that doula support is linked to lower rates of postpartum depression and increased bonding between parents and their newborns.

Beyond the research, having a doula means having someone in your corner who understands the intensity of birth and can help you navigate decisions in the moment. I provide hands-on comfort measures, help partners feel more involved, and create a space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Every birth is different, but with the right support, it can be a more positive and transformative experience.

  • Investing in a birth doula is one of the most meaningful steps you can take toward a positive and empowering birth experience. In Los Angeles, the cost of hiring a birth doula varies based on experience, services offered, and individual pricing structures. On average, fees range between $2,500 and $7,000.

I understand that these costs can be significant, and I am committed to making experienced doula support more attainable. My services are priced to ensure that you receive compassionate, knowledgeable care without compromising on quality.

    1. Schedule a Discovery Call – We’ll start with a free consultation where we can chat about your birth preferences, what kind of support you're looking for, and how I can best serve you. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions and see if we’re a good match.

    2. Secure Your Spot – If you decide to move forward, a deposit will officially reserve your place on my calendar. I’ll also send over some paperwork to make everything official so we can start preparing for your birth journey.

    3. Access to Support & Prenatal Prep – As soon as you’re my client, you’ll get access to my resources and knowledge base to help you feel more informed and confident. We’ll then schedule an intake session to dive deeper into your needs, followed by a prenatal visit where we’ll go over comfort techniques, birth plans, and anything else to help you feel fully prepared.

From there, I’ll be available to support you throughout your pregnancy, birth, and beyond, ensuring you feel empowered every step of the way!

  • I typically join you once active labor is underway and you feel that my physical support is needed. Every labor progresses differently, so we’ll stay in close contact leading up to that point. My goal is to arrive at just the right time, ensuring you feel fully supported while also allowing your labor to unfold in a way that feels natural and comfortable for you.
