Postpartum Doula FAQs:

  • A postpartum doula is there to support you in the early weeks after birth, helping you recover, adjust, and feel more confident in your new role. My job is to nurture you, your baby, and your partner or family whether that means providing emotional support, assisting with newborn care, helping with feeding (breastfeeding or bottle), or even taking care of small household tasks (i.e. laundry, dishes, and some cooking) so you can rest and heal. Those first few weeks can feel overwhelming, and having a postpartum doula means you don’t have to do it alone. My goal is to create a calm, reassuring environment where you feel supported, well-rested, and empowered in your journey into parenthood.

  • Having a postpartum doula can make a huge difference in how you recover and adjust in the first few weeks after birth. The transition into parenthood can be overwhelming, and having hands-on support not just for the baby, but for you helps ease that shift. A postpartum doula provides emotional support, guidance with newborn care and feeding, and practical help so you can focus on healing and bonding with your baby.

Research backs this up. A study published in The Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic & Neonatal Nursing found that postpartum doula support is linked to lower rates of postpartum depression and increased confidence in parenting skills. Another study in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth showed that parents who had postpartum doula care reported feeling more emotionally supported and less stressed in the early weeks.

Beyond the studies, I see the impact firsthand - having a doula means having someone who anticipates your needs, reassures you when things feel tough, and creates space for you to rest and recover. Whether it’s making sure you’re eating, helping with soothing techniques for your baby, or just being a listening ear, my goal is to help you feel nurtured, capable, and cared for during this incredibly transformative time.
